Kirk Dearman is a singer/songwriter and pianist, who has enjoyed a successful career in music and the arts. Drawn to the piano at age five, his mom had the wisdom to find a teacher and lessons. For eight years he studied classical music and developed his 'sensitive' touch on the piano. Early on he was recognized as having an exceptional gift at the piano.
As a teen he moved on to play "pop" music, had his first song published at 18, and toured the world with the Continental Singers.
Kirk married his teenage sweetheart Deby and together they moved to Azuza, California where he became the lead singer for the Sound Foundation, a Christian "pop" band, based at Azuza Pacific University.
After they returned to their home town of Dallas, TX, Kirk and Deby became involved in music at their church. Kirk was soon hired as the youth choir director where he built a strong 150-voice choir that toured and recorded. At the same time, he was doing studio work as a singer and pianist.
In the midst of raising a family, Kirk and Deby, along with their two little girls, eventually moved to Europe to work with long time friends and fellow artists, Jim & Anne Mills. They spent the next seven years co-leading a performing arts company that now thrives as Creative Arts Europe, led now by the Millses. Touring many of the great cathedrals of Europe with musicians and dancers, the Dearmans sang their way into hearts all across Europe.
While in Europe, the Dearmans were writing songs, but had no idea that their song, "We Bring the Sacrifice of Praise," was becoming a favorite in churches in America. The song went on to be #1 with Christian Copyright Liscensing for five years, stayed in the Top Ten for ten years, and is now a worship classic, sung in churches world-wide. Many of their songs are also included in church hymnals.
Pursued by a Christian record company, Kirk and Deby decided to move their family to Nashville, TN to pursue their songwriting career. Even though they now had many songs published and recorded, as well as a "Top Ten" worship song, they took songwriting classes and worked to hone their skills as writers. This led them to coach other songwriters and set the Dearmans on a new path with a new focus.
One song Kirk is particularly excited about is "The Dash." He was honored to write the music to the world-famous poem by Linda Ellis and "The Dash" song is now recognized as the 'official' song version of the poem, written by Linda Ellis. The song was recently chosen to be included on a 2-CD compilation called "Tea Are the World." This recording is connected with the official nationwide Tea Party movement and the songs on the project reflect the Tea Party's conservative principles and values.
Today, Kirk's newest pursuit is creating, recording and performing piano instrumentals that bring peace and calm to a stressed-out world. His piano instrumental series, titled "The Calm," is quickly gaining in popularity, as it brings peace and soothes the multitudes who buy and live by his music.
